Frequently Asked Questions

What distinguishes the Journal of Interdisciplinary Perspectives (JIP) from predatory journals?

Here, we address common questions and provide clear information about our commitment to ethical publishing, peer-review processes, and how we differ from predatory journals. Our goal is to ensure transparency and build trust with our authors, readers, and academic community. If you have any further questions or need additional information, please don’t hesitate to contact us.

Predatory journals are publications that exploit authors by charging fees without providing legitimate editorial or peer review processes. At JIP, we ensure that every manuscript undergoes rigorous peer review and that our editorial team follows international publishing standards. Our goal is to publish high-quality research while maintaining complete transparency in our processes and fees. Learn more by reading our Publication Ethics and Malpractice Statement.

How is JIP ensuring the quality of published research?

We ensure the quality of our publications through a stringent peer-review process. Each submission undergoes thorough review by experts in the field, and we have strict guidelines to maintain high standards. Our editorial board also continuously monitors and upholds these standards to ensure every published article meets our quality criteria. You can read our Editorial Process if you would like more specific information.

What is the peer-review process at JIP?

Our peer-review process is double-blind, meaning that both the authors and reviewers remain anonymous to each other. This process ensures unbiased feedback and maintains the integrity of the review. Submissions are reviewed by experts in the relevant field, and only those that meet our rigorous standards are accepted for publication.

Why does JIP charge an Article Processing Charge (APC)?

The APC covers the costs associated with the editorial process, including editing, and maintaining the online platform. It also helps us ensure that the journal remains open access, allowing for wider dissemination of research without subscription barriers. We strive to keep the APC reasonable and provide value through our thorough review and publishing processes.

What are the benefits of publishing with JIP?

If you have any concerns about our publishing process or believe there may be an issue with the review or publication of your article, please contact us directly. We take all concerns seriously and are committed to addressing any issues promptly to ensure transparency and uphold our commitment to ethical publishing.

What is JIP's turnaround time?

Our typical turnaround time is approximately 3 weeks. This is made possible by our dedicated editorial board and staff who are committed to efficiently moving the publication process forward. Unlike many journals where authors must independently find reviewers or where the review process can be extended due to institutional affiliations, we manage every step in-house to ensure a swift and streamlined experience. This approach allows us to provide timely feedback and maintain high standards of academic publishing.

Why does JIP publish monthly?

We publish on a monthly basis to efficiently handle the volume of submissions we receive. This regular schedule allows us to promptly process and review each article, ensuring that research is disseminated in a timely manner. This approach helps us manage the flow of submissions effectively and maintain the quality of our review process, providing authors with timely feedback and ensuring a consistent stream of high-quality research.

I couldn’t find articles from your latest issue on Google Scholar. Why is that?

We submit all articles from each issue to our indexing partners at the same time. It usually takes until the 1st or 2nd week of the issue month for the articles to be indexed. For example, articles from the September 2024 issue should appear on Google Scholar by the 1st or 2nd week of September.
