Abstract

Vaccine hesitancy remains a major public health concern that limits vaccination uptake, yet limited studies have examined how information sources influence parental decisions at the barangay level. This study aimed to determine the factors associated with vaccine hesitancy among parents in selected barangays in San Pablo City, Laguna. A descriptive-correlational design was used, involving parents of children aged 0 to 18 selected through stratified random sampling. Data were collected using a validated adapted questionnaire and analyzed using mean, standard deviation, and chi-square test. Results showed that social media was the primary source of vaccine-related information influencing parents’ decisions. Parents reported moderate concerns about vaccine side effects and negative information. A significant association was found between the primary source of information and parental vaccine concerns (p = .010), while other variables showed no significant relationships. These findings suggest that information source plays a limited but important role in shaping vaccine hesitancy. The study highlights the need for targeted and reliable health communication strategies to address misinformation and improve vaccine acceptance among parents.
